Las Ramblas will quickly become a must-see.<\/p>\n<p>Let me introduce you to <strong>this long, iconic street<\/strong> of the city and what you can see on a pleasant stroll.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>A must-see avenue in Barcelona<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>There's probably no more telling example in the country than\u00a0<strong>\"la Rambla<\/strong>\u00a0to describe the Spanish ritual of the pedestrian promenade (\"<strong>paseo<\/strong>\") ! Les Ramblas?<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>As I mentioned at the start of this article, the Rambla is made up of\u00a0<strong>5 Ramblas<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>From the top<\/strong>\u00a0(Place de Catalogne)\u00a0<strong>at the bottom of the Rambla\u00a0<\/strong>(monument to Christopher Columbus) :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Rambla de Canaletes<\/strong>with its famous drinking water fountain and kiosks. Popular legend has it that whoever drinks from the fountain will return to Barcelona.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Rambla dels estudis<\/strong>in reference to the university located there at the time.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Rambla de Sant Josep<\/strong>(named after the former convent) which is also known as \"Rambla de les Flors\", due to the flower sellers present at the time. Today, bird sellers can be found here.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Rambla dels Caputxins<\/strong>named after the former Capuchin monastery, is known for its caf\u00e9s.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Rambla de Santa M\u00f2nica<\/strong>which overlooks the sea and has retained its original charm<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>A little history about the ramblas<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Visit\u00a0<strong>left wall\u00a0<\/strong>of the town, dating from the 13th century, followed the left bank of the d'en Malla stream, which flowed from the Collserolla hills towards the Mediterranean Sea.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Convents, monasteries and universities\u00a0<\/strong>were built in the 16th century on the opposite bank.<br \/>\nOver time, the riverbed gradually filled in and these buildings were destroyed.<br \/>\nVisit <strong>five Ramblas<\/strong> that make up the main thoroughfare have been renamed in tribute to these buildings.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Anecdote\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><em>Until the 18th century, it was inadvisable to \"breathe in\" deeply, as the Ramblas were then a kind of \"airfield\".<\/em><strong><em>open sewer<\/em><\/strong><em>\u00a0which ran parallel to the city walls.<\/em><br \/>\n<a name=\"3\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><strong>How to enjoy the Rambla? It was created following the demolition of the ramparts in 1854.<\/p>\n<p>It's the focal point of the city that <strong>combines public transport<\/strong> linking the entire city and also connecting <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/barcelona-airport\/\">the airport.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>It is home to banks, hotels and brand-name stores (notably the <strong>large shopping mall<\/strong> \"El corte ingl\u00e8s\").<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"img-full aligncenter\" title=\"canaletes\" src=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/fontaine-canaletes.jpg\" alt=\"canaletes\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"block-title-name\"><strong>Fontaine de Canaletes (Canaletes Fountain)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Just a stone's throw from the Place de Catalogne, the Fontaine de Canaletes is known for its <strong>legend <\/strong>saying that <strong>whoever drinks its water will return to Barcelona<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>It is also the scene of <strong>fan rallies<\/strong> of the local soccer club, <strong>FC Barcelona<\/strong>when the latter wins a title.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"img-full aligncenter\" title=\"betlem\" src=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/eglise-betlem.jpg\" alt=\"betlem\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"block-title-name\"><strong>Betlem church (Esgl\u00e9sia de Betlem)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Barcelona's Betlem church is famous for its <strong>baroque fa\u00e7ade<\/strong> (Saint Ignatius of Loyola can be seen in conversation with Saint Francis Borgia).
