The Barcelona Marathon is called the Zurich Marat\u00f3 de Barcelona and takes advantage of the wonderful Mediterranean climate. <\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

It was created in 1978<\/strong> and is an annual event.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Nicknamed the Zurich Marathon<\/strong><\/em> because Zurich Insurance Group is the main sponsor of the marathon. The organizer is Amaury Sport Organisation.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The race starts in the Place d'Espagne and the route truly encompasses the whole city, <\/strong>from the Camp Nou (Bar\u00e7a's mythical soccer stadium) via the Sagrada, the Sant Andreu district, a large section of the Meridiana (the avenue that crosses the city) and back to the beach.<\/em><\/p>\n

The loop is huge, covering more than 40 kilometers.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The next edition will take place on Sunday, March 15, 2020!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

How do I register?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Registration is online on the marathon website: https:\/\/www.zurichmaratobarcelona.es\/fra\/<\/a><\/p>\n

How and where to pick up your race number<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Once you have registered online, you will receive a confirmation email containing your race number.<\/p>\n

If this number is not listed, it is also available on the website the week before the event.<\/p>\n

You must pick up your number at Expo Sports<\/em> and this, with your identity card or passport.<\/em><\/p>\n

Please note: race numbers cannot be collected on race day!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Ecomarathon: waste management, augmented public transport and chemical sinks<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The city of Barcelona and the marathon organizers have put in place a series of measures to make the marathon as environmentally friendly as possible.<\/p>\n

Riders are therefore asked to to respect these measures.<\/strong><\/p>\n

First of all, there are hundreds of containers all over the city and it is imperative to sort waste.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The city has also set up more public transport<\/strong> to make it quick and easy to get to the start of the race.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

How do I get to the race entrance?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Getting to the marathon entrance is easy:<\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 by metro<\/strong><\/em> (Pla\u00e7a de Espanya - Line 3 Green and Line 1 Red);<\/p>\n

- en bus<\/strong><\/em> :13. 23. 37. 46. 50. 65. 79. 91. 150. 165 y V7;<\/p>\n

- If you arrive by train,<\/strong><\/em> the easiest way is to arrive from the Estaci\u00f3 Sants<\/strong> which is about fifteen minutes' walk from the start of the race;<\/p>\n

- The peripheral trains<\/strong><\/em> - RENFE RODALIES - have set up a collaboration and all race participants can travel free of charge (R11. R12. R13. R14. R15. R16).<\/p>\n

A checkroom system: where and when to leave your belongings?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

You can come drop off your belongings between 6.30am and 8.15am.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Please note, the race starts at 8:30!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Items should be dropped off at the Fira \/ Italian pavilion.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Of course, it's forbidden to run with backpacks, as they could get in the way of you and other runners.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Facilities available at the exit<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Several services are available once you have completed the race:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • The liquid cooling zone ;<\/em><\/li>\n
  • Presentation of medals ;<\/em><\/li>\n
  • Physical recovery area including physiotherapy and podiatry;<\/em><\/li>\n
  • The podiums;<\/em><\/li>\n
  • Various information points ;<\/em><\/li>\n
  • The buses that take you to the showers <\/em>(Av. Rius i Taulet (Caixa Forum) to Piscine Picornell).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    • The Saturday before the marathon: the Pasta Party<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      At Expo Sports, on the eve of the marathon (from 12pm to 4pm), all participants will receive a pasta dish.<\/p>\n

      A great opportunity to meet<\/strong><\/em> before the big departure!<\/p>\n

      • During the marathon: timbalers and brass bands<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Numerous concerts, percussion and brass band performances will take place throughout the race.<\/p>\n

        • After the marathon: Breakfast Run by MRW 2020<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          The 1992 Olympic Games were very important for the city of Barcelona!<\/p>\n

          At the Breaksfast Run<\/strong><\/em>You'll have the opportunity to run the last four kilometers of the 1992 marathon, near the Montjuic fountain.<\/p>\n

          The race is free and starts at 9:30 a.m. After the race, you'll have breakfast with the participants.<\/p>\n

          The children's marathon : KIDS MARATHON<\/strong><\/h2>\n

          On Saturday, March 14, 2020, children will be able to take part in a 200m circuit, which can be found on Avenida Maria Cristina.<\/p>\n
