Casa Mil\u00e0 doesn't go unnoticed, with its <strong>its immense fa\u00e7ade filled with curves and unique details<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc122420616\"><\/a><strong>What is the history of this place?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Casa Mil\u00e0 was built between 1906 and 1910 and commissioned by the couple Pedro Mil\u00e1 y Camps and Roser Segimon, who lived on one floor of the building and rented out the rest. At the time, Paseo de Gracia was the most important avenue in the city and, of course, all the most important and wealthiest families lived here. <strong>began building their homes here.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As it stands today, this unique building did not go unnoticed and was mocked by society at the time. This place <strong>is sure to surprise you.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The roof of La Pedrera is completely different from any other building. The roof's elements include stairwells, ventilation towers and chimneys which, rather than having been built for purely functional purposes, also fulfil an aesthetic role. These sculptural volumes with their curved forms are <strong>covered in stone, marble and ceramics.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Beyond its aesthetic appeal, the roof offers an incredible view of Barcelona. You can see the whole of Paseo de Gracia and <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/sagrada-familia-interior-tickets\/\">the Sagrada Familia.<\/a><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Continue your visit in the attic<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>After visiting the rooftop terrace, you descend to the attic, another area of Casa Mil\u00e0 that leaves you speechless. Here you can really see <strong>Gaud\u00ed's greatness as an architect<\/strong> 270 brick catenary arches, simulating the skeleton of a whale, support the roof and create a unique interior.<\/p>\n<p>This was once the building's communal laundry. Today, the attic houses a Gaud\u00ed exhibition, with models of his works, videos of his history, furniture designed by him and more.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Visit the apartments<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The next space you visit is the fourth-floor apartment. It's furnished just as it was back then. It gives us an idea of <strong>how a bourgeois family lived at La Pedrera.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We can also see how Gaud\u00ed thought about every detail of his works: knobs, handles, mouldings, doors, among other elements.\u00a0<strong>were designed by the architect.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>End the visit at the butterfly court<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The tour ends in the interior patio, a characteristic Casa Mil\u00e0 space that provides light and ventilation to the apartments.
