It was Barcelona's very first library, and is the oldest still standing. The building belonged to Rossend Ar\u00fas, who <strong>decided to donate the space to the city.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In addition to books, the library also boasts a vast collection of works of art and sculpture dating back several centuries. It's a fascinating and historic space to explore, with or without the intention of reading.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, the library is now used mainly as a research center, and none of the books can be borrowed. If you wish to read them, you will need to <strong>request an access card, which costs \u20ac20.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>A place for culture<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The application process is slightly tedious. You'll need to go directly to the library with two recent passport photos, fill in the application form, pay the fee and wait for your card. Once issued, it is valid for three years.<\/p>\n<p>For those simply looking to enjoy the space for an afternoon, there are daily guided tours offering facts about the library's past. It's a wonderful way to <strong>a rainy day in Barcelona.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Step into the Firebug Bistro next door for refreshments. In 1939, it was a huge space that served as the Biblioteca de Catalunya.<strong>former Santa Creu hospital.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The building is an architectural masterpiece, but was in need of severe restoration after its years as a hospital. The large arches managed to contain most of the infrastructure, but poor maintenance necessitated years of intensive repairs around the grounds.<\/p>\n<p>Today, it serves as a public knowledge space for locals and travelers alike. The interior features an impressive adult library, as well as a smaller children's library.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>The perfect library for students<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>It is close to Pompeu Fabra University, so students regularly use the facilities for their studies. It is <strong>the perfect place to study!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Travelers to Barcelona who need a place to work remotely will find great solace in the Biblioteca de Catalunya. Internet caf\u00e9s and coworking spaces are not for everyone. This library offers <strong>a private, quiet workspace<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Access to the library and facilities is totally free!<\/p>\n<p>The facility opens :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Monday to Friday<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You can get there by metro and <strong>by exiting at Sant Antoni station.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc125289245\"><\/a><strong>Jaume Fuster Library in Barcelona<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The Biblioteca Jaume Fuster is not as enchanting as older, preserved library buildings. On the contrary, it's the city's newest and most modern library. There's something about the space and light that makes it a fantastic place.<\/p>\n<p>The library is located in the southern part of the Gracia district, a popular tourist area known for its excellent shopping. <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/tapas-barcelona\/\">authentic tapas.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Tourists love to stop off at the library for its vast collection of travel-related content.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>An incredible collection of books<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The library was named after the Catalan writer Jaume Fuster. It was only recently completed, in 2005. There's a caf\u00e9 on site, which you'll see as you enter the building.<\/p>\n<p>The library is made up of several different areas. In addition to the reading rooms, there are also areas filled with magazines where you can relax in peace and quiet. In the children's library, the little ones can wander around <strong>as you make your way to the zones of your choice.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Library cards are issued at reception on arrival. This has become a bit <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/what-to-bring-back-to-barcelona\/\">a tourist souvenir<\/a> to bring back a card from this Barcelona library after his trip.<\/p>\n<p>The establishment opens its doors :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Monday to Friday <strong>9.30 a.m. to 8.30 p.m.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Saturday and Sunday <strong>10 a.m. to 8 p.m.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>While you're in Barcelona, if you need to do a bit of work or want to relax, I recommend you spend some time in the city's libraries.
