The weather is warm enough for comfortable walking, but not too hot.<\/p>\n<p>Although it's also possible to hike around Barcelona during the winter months, it tends to rain more.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/rando-barcelone.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-2084\" src=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/rando-barcelone-1024x684.jpg\" alt=\"rando barcelona\" width=\"1024\" height=\"684\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/rando-barcelone-1024x684.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/rando-barcelone-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/rando-barcelone-768x513.jpg 768w, https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/rando-barcelone-1536x1025.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/rando-barcelone.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc126515508\"><\/a><strong>Hiking in Barcelona: Mount Tibidabo<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>I'll start by hiking to the<a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/tibidabo\/\"> Mount Tibidabo<\/a>which looks more like a hill near Barcelona. It's by far the most popular hiking destination on my list.<\/p>\n<p>It's easy to get to and offers a unique experience. It's also <strong>an excellent choice for families.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You'll enjoy incredible views over the town and beyond from Mount Tibidabo, which stands at an altitude of 541 meters and is the highest peak in the Serra de Collserola mountain range.<\/p>\n<p>Along the way, you'll be rewarded with breathtaking views of Barcelona, including <strong>an overview of <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/chateau-montjuic\/\">Montju\u00efc Castle<\/a> far away<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Highlights include <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/temple-expiatori-del-sagrat-cor\/\">temple expiatoire du Sacr\u00e9-C\u0153ur<\/a> (Sagrat Cor church), an impressive church that you can see from almost anywhere in Barcelona at night, and the Collserola tower. Built for the <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/j-o-de-barcelona\/\">1992 Olympic Games<\/a>is <strong>Barcelona's tallest structure.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At the top, you'll have a 360\u00b0 view of Barcelona, with its vibrant architecture. You can even see the <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/sagrada-familia-interior-tickets\/\">Sagrada Familia<\/a> by Gaudi!<\/p>\n<p>Unlike most mountains, the Tibidabo mountain offers a wide range of attractions, making it the perfect place to enjoy a wide range of activities. <strong>an excellent family outing.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you've only had time for one hike near Barcelona, Mount Tibidabo is an excellent choice.<\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc126515509\"><\/a><strong>Montserrat National Park<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The National Park of <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/montserrat\/\">Montserrat<\/a> is located around 60 km northwest of Barcelona in the Montserrat mountain range. It is famous for<strong> its impressive rock formations and remarkable landscapes.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The park covers approximately 32 km\u00b2 of land and was declared a national park in 1987. There are many hiking routes to choose from, <strong>adapted to each level.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The park's most emblematic feature is the Montserrat massif. This impressive mountain range rises to an altitude of 1,125 meters, with <strong>its jagged summit dominating the horizon for miles.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Its name comes from the Latin phrase Mons Serratus, meaning \"serrated mountains\". Its unusual shape was formed by wind erosion, which carved out distinctive peaks, often likened to bees' nests or giant's teeth.<\/p>\n<p>The park has been included in the <strong>UNESCO biosphere reserves<\/strong> because of its rich biodiversity, which includes over 800 plant species. It also serves as a sanctuary for many rare birds, including the griffon vultures that nest on its rock faces.<\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc126515510\"><\/a><strong>Hiking in Barcelona: Monasterrio al Santa Cova &amp; Sant Jeroni<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The trail starts near the Montserrat monastery at the foot of the mountain. This challenging but rewarding hike takes you through some of Catalonia's most beautiful scenery. It's a great hike to do near Barcelona.<\/p>\n<p>It winds up to a rocky plateau, with breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside and distant mountains. Along the way, you'll be treated to wildflowers, birdsong and majestic old trees lining your path. The higher you climb, <strong>the more breathtaking the views become<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>As you approach the summit of Sant Jeroni, you'll pass one of Montserrat's most emblematic natural sites, the Hermitage of Santa Cova, an ancient chapel built in 1202. Legend has it that <strong>the image of the Virgin of Montserrat was found there.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc126515511\"><\/a><strong>Montseny Natural Park<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Located 40 kilometers northeast of Barcelona, you'll find the Montseny Massif Natural Park. Declared a biosphere reserve by UNESCO in 1978, the <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/montseny-natural-park\/\">Montseny<\/a> covers an area of 30,120 hectares. This makes it <strong>Catalonia's largest nature park.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The park features a variety of terrain, from lush pine forests to rocky river valleys with spectacular canyons. The park's highest peak is Tur\u00f3 de l'Home at 1,700 m, which offers spectacular views from its summit. There are many hiking trails for hikers of all levels.<\/p>\n<p>Wildlife abounds in the Montseny Natural Park. The rare Iberian lynx lives here alongside numerous native species such as wild boar, foxes, bats and more. Birdwatchers will also find plenty to enjoy, with over 130 different species recorded in the park, <strong>including vultures, eagles, owls and kites.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There are over 500 km of marked trails for walking, hiking and mountain biking, <strong>so you have plenty of choice<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc126515512\"><\/a><strong>Hiking in Barcelona: Coll de Sant Mar\u00e7al - Matagalls<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Hiking to Coll de Sant Mar\u00e7al - Matagalls in Spain's Montseny Natural Park is a magnificent and challenging experience. It's a 4-5 hour hike in the mountains, mainly on well-marked trails.<\/p>\n<p>You'll enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and green valleys.<\/p>\n<p>At the summit, you'll find yourself at 1,697 m overlooking the Montserrat mountain range.<\/p>\n<p>You'll even <strong>a view of the Mediterranean Sea from here on a clear day!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You can also see other peaks such as Tur\u00f3 Gros (1,541 m) and Tur\u00f3 Bandera (1,658 m).<\/p>\n<p>It's a wonderful reward for your efforts and <strong>one of the best hikes near Barcelona.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Now you know where to go hiking in Barcelona.
