In the 1930s, during the Spanish Civil War, the summit of Turo de la Rovira was used as a base to defend the town against air attack.<\/p>\n<p>After the war, the Bunker del Carmel became a shantytown, housing around 7 % of Barcelona's population.<\/p>\n<p>For a long time, they were virtually abandoned, visited only by locals aware of the incredible beauty offered by the view. With 3 different ways to get there, <strong>you can be on site in no time.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Choose to travel to the site by metro<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Getting to the Bunker by metro is the route that requires the most walking. Although it's a nice walk, you'll have to make some effort to get there.<\/p>\n<p>The part <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/metro-barcelona\/\">metro<\/a> is easy, simply mount <strong>take the L4 towards Trinitat Nova and get off at Alfons X.<\/strong> From there, it's about half an hour's walk. Don't let the walk put you off, because once you're there, you'll enjoy the best view in Barcelona.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Take the bus to Barcelona's Bunker del Carmel<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Although the bus to the Bunker stops right in Barcelona city center on the <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/place-catalunya-barcelona\/\">Place Catalunya<\/a>If you want to save time, I recommend taking the metro first, then the bus. After that, it's just a 10-minute walk to the top.<\/p>\n<p>Unless you really want to walk from the metro, <strong>getting to the Bunker del Carmel by bus would be the best choice.<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>From the center of Barcelona, <strong>take the L3 towards Trinitat Nova to Vallcarca<\/strong>. Just outside the station, there's a bus stop where the <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/bus-barcelona\/\">bus<\/a> number 22 takes people to El Carmel. All you have to do is stay on board until the end when it arrives at Gran Vista, Turo de la Rovira.<\/p>\n<h3>Taking a cab<\/h3>\n<p>Of course, you can also take a cab that will take you as far as you like. Before starting your journey to the summit, drop into a local store to buy a few cans of beer or a bottle of wine. Nothing beats a good view and a good cava.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Get yourself some good sneakers<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Unless you choose the cab option, I recommend that you wear comfortable shoes for the climb. In fact, a good pair of sneakers will do the trick. <strong>your best ally in getting to the top of the hill quickly.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Avoid the sunset<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>As I mentioned earlier, if you want to avoid the crowds, it's best to avoid sunset. However, if you don't mind crowds, <strong>the view of the sunset is simply magnificent.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Bring a jacket<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>If you arrive for sunset, bring a jacket or blanket. Being at the top of a hill, the weather is quite windy. It's therefore <strong>you may feel a little cold.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A visit to the Bunker del Carmel while in Barcelona is almost a must.
