The building itself was constructed in 1889 as a showroom. After the Spanish Civil War, it was used as a parking lot before being converted into a restaurant.<\/p>\n<p>The restoration was led by top interior designer L\u00e1zaro Rosa Viol\u00e1n, who drew his inspiration from the 30's and 40's. He preserved the building's assets, including <strong>authentic skylights that let in natural light.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>With over 270 m\u00b2, it can accommodate up to 770 guests. It is open <strong>daily from 12 p.m. to 2 a.m.<\/strong>. Their menu focuses on Spanish ingredients from the many regions of Spain. When you enter the building, you'll feel like you're in a market.<\/p>\n<p>As you explore the menu, you'll realize that it's much more than that. Indeed, unlike its ambience and decor, the restaurant is a culinary establishment in its own right.<\/p>\n<p>El Nacional has 4 restaurants: <strong>La Braseria, La Llotja, La Taperia and La Paradeta<\/strong>. What's more, the space boasts 5 bars where you can enjoy beers, wine, cocktails, champagne, oysters and even Russian caviar. All products are Spanish, with the exception of Champagne and Oysters from France and caviar from Russia.<\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc127029298\"><\/a><strong>El Nacional in Barcelona: the place to go for a beer<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Whether at Paradeta or Braseria, you'll be spoilt for choice when it comes to craft beers and other alcoholic beverages to accompany your meal.
