At that time, times were unstable in the Catalan region and Montju\u00efc Castle ended up<strong> be the protagonist of the Battle of Montju\u00efc<\/strong> one of the many conflicts of the Reapers' War (1640 to 1652).<\/p>\n<p>However, the current Ch\u00e2teau de Montju\u00efc is the result of a renovation designed by Spanish architect and military engineer Juan Mart\u00edn Cerme\u00f1o in 1751. All you need to do is borrow <strong>lines L1 or L3 to Pla\u00e7a d'Espanya station<\/strong> then walk about 2 km to the military fortress. This walking route takes around 40 minutes, which may seem a little long.<\/p>\n<p>You can also take the <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/montjuic\/\">Montju\u00efc<\/a>which costs :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>9,40\u00a0\u20ac<\/strong> per adult<\/li>\n<li><strong>7,50\u00a0\u20ac<\/strong> for children aged 4 to 12<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc127198461\"><\/a><strong>What are the opening hours?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Montju\u00efc Castle is open every day:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>10 a.m. to 6 p.m.<\/strong> November to February<\/li>\n<li><strong>10 a.m. to 8 p.m.<\/strong> March to October<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please note, <strong>the ticket office closes at 5:30 or 7:30 p.m. depending on the season.<\/strong> The only closing days are the public holidays of January 1\u1d49\u02b3 and December 25.<\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc127198462\"><\/a><strong>How much does admission cost?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Tickets cost :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>9\u00a0\u20ac<\/strong> standard rate<\/li>\n<li><strong>6\u00a0\u20ac<\/strong> reduced rates for young people aged 16 to 29 and seniors over 65<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On the first Sunday of every month and every Sunday from 3 p.m., admission is free for all. Completed in 1767, the structure was also <strong>protected by the Saint Charles Bastion and the Saint Amalia Bastion.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Bastion Saint-Charles<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The Bastion de Saint-Charles is one of the first points of interest you can visit at Montju\u00efc Castle.<\/p>\n<p>Also known as the Saint-Charles rampart, it is the only one of the four bastions of the Montju\u00efc castle to have been built. <strong>was built to designs by Juan Mart\u00edn Cerme\u00f1o.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Work began in 1756 and lasted until 1773. And its name is a tribute to the monarch who ruled the country at the time: King Charles III of Spain!<\/p>\n<h3><strong>The parade ground<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The Place d'Armes is the \"heart\" of Montju\u00efc Castle. Like other military fortresses, this square terrace <strong>served as a training ground for the military garrison.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Around the Montju\u00efc Castle square, there's a visitor center, three exhibition halls, two workshops, an information desk, a caf\u00e9 with terrace, toilets and stairs to the terrace.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>The wall facing the sea<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Did you know that the wall facing the sea is the longest section of the Montju\u00efc castle curtain wall? The wall facing the Mediterranean Sea is 155 metres long!<\/p>\n<p>It offers a privileged view of Barcelona harbour.
