In other words, this manor house began as an extension of that first house, and as such, the young architect <strong>includes a glass passageway to link the two buildings<\/strong> which can still be visited today on the first floor!<\/p>\n<p>Antoni Gaud\u00ed put about <strong>four years to complete the G\u00fcell Palace<\/strong>. The interior spaces are harmonious, balanced and symmetrical.<\/p>\n<p>But the main legacy of this bourgeois palace was the architectural and decorative solutions devised by the Catalan architect, which served as a rehearsal for his future masterpieces (such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/parc-guell-barcelona\/\">parc G\u00fcell<\/a>the <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/casa-batllo-barcelona\/\">Casa Batll\u00f3<\/a>the <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/casa-mila-barcelona-pedrera\/\">Casa Mil\u00e0<\/a>the crypt of <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/colonia-guell\/\">Col\u00f2nia G\u00fcell<\/a>and the Basilica of <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/sagrada-familia-interior-tickets\/\">Sagrada Familia<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/palais-guell.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2195\" src=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/palais-guell.jpg\" alt=\"palais guell\" width=\"1021\" height=\"679\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/palais-guell.jpg 1021w, https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/palais-guell-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/palais-guell-768x511.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1021px) 100vw, 1021px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc127131948\"><\/a><strong>What are the opening hours?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>G\u00fcell Palace opens :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tuesday to Sunday <strong>10 am to 5:30 pm (October 1 to March 31)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>10 am to 8 pm (April 1 to September 30)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Ticketing closes <strong>at 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc127131949\"><\/a><strong>How much does a ticket cost?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Admission costs :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>12\u00a0\u20ac<\/strong> for adults<\/li>\n<li><strong>9\u00a0\u20ac<\/strong> for students aged 18 and over<\/li>\n<li><strong>5\u00a0\u20ac<\/strong> for children and young people aged 10 to 17<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc127131950\"><\/a><strong>What to see at Palacio G\u00fcell<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>There's a lot to see at Barcelona's Palau G\u00fcell. As the site is huge, I'm going to tell you about the main things to see during your visit.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>The main fa\u00e7ade<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The main fa\u00e7ade of the Palacio G\u00fcell is marked by the two parabolic arches in the center, which house the <strong>large wrought-iron doors<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, wrought iron is the decorative material that stands out most here. Apart from that, the structure has been <strong>built almost exclusively from Mass\u00eds del Garraf limestone.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A very curious detail on the main facade of Palau G\u00fcell is the coat of arms of Catalonia, installed between the entrance doors. Also in wrought iron, it is crowned by a phoenix, symbol of the Renaixen\u00e7a (Catalan literary and cultural movement of the XIX\u1d49 century).<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Palais G\u00fcell: the stables and courtyard <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The basement of the Palazzo G\u00fcell was used as a stable, and access was via two different ramps: a gently sloping spiral ramp, through which the horses ascended and descended; and a steeper spiral ramp used by the palace's servants.<\/p>\n<p>However, the most striking feature of this space is the thick brick pillars with mushroom-shaped capitals, <strong>which bear a large part of the building's weight<\/strong>. The basement also features a small courtyard, which provides ventilation and light for the stable and was used to collect rainwater.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>The antechamber <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The first room on the first floor of Palazzo G\u00fcell is, of course, the antechamber. And, although the entrance isn't exactly the most important room in a house, <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/gaudi-barcelona\/\">Antoni Gaud\u00ed<\/a> has not neglected its decoration, incorporating a variety of materials (marble, iron, glass, brass, wood, etc.)!<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Palais G\u00fcell: the central hall<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>At over 80 m\u00b2 and 17 metres high, the central hall is the \"heart\" of the G\u00fcell Palace. In the days when the mansion was inhabited by the G\u00fcell family, this great hall hosted all kinds of social and cultural events, which is why Antoni Gaud\u00ed <strong>equipped it with a chapel and an organ console.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The parabolic dome that crowns the central hall is one of the Catalan architect's most brilliant ideas. Supported by four parabolic arches, the dome is covered with hexagonal alabaster pieces, which let in natural light. <strong>to simulate a starry sky!<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>South terrace and rear facade <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The south-facing terrace is located at the rear of Palazzo G\u00fcell. It is accessible from the dining room, billiard room and corridor.<\/p>\n<p>The views you have of this space are the three streets: Carrer de Lancaster, Carrer Nou and<a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/las-ramblas-barcelona\/\"> Las Ramblas.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Despite this, the most relevant element of this patio is <strong>the wrought-iron bay window.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The rear fa\u00e7ade is completed by a balcony on the upper floor, linking Eusebi G\u00fcell's bedroom with that of Isabel L\u00f3pez .<\/p>\n<p>A visit to Barcelona's Palau G\u00fcell is an experience in itself.
