The building, located in the Sant Pere, Santa Caterina and La Ribera neighborhoods, was designed by Catalan architect Llu\u00eds Dom\u00e8nech i Montaner and retains the characteristic Catalan architectural style known as Catalan Modernism. It's one of Barcelona's must-sees for its impressive fa\u00e7ade and sumptuous interiors. It was <strong>declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1997.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Inside El Palau de la M\u00fasica Catalana, we find the Sala Llu\u00eds Millet, the concert hall, the Petit Palau de \u00d3scar Tusquets and the Library. The interiors are decorated with ceramic mosaics, while the windows are made of polychrome glass. Nature and floral themes predominate in the facings, another of the classic themes of this architectural style found throughout the city.<\/p>\n<p>El Palau has been the stage for some of the best operas and concerts to travel around Barcelona and its surroundings. <strong>is an essential part of its cultural and artistic life.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Information about the Palau de la Musica Catalana<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>If you would like to visit the site, please note that<strong> guided tours from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday to Sunday<\/strong>. A guided tour is the only way to discover the famous balcony of flower columns.<\/p>\n<p>Children up to the age of 10 enjoy free admission. Admission for <strong>for adults is \u20ac18 and \u20ac11 for concessions.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The guided tour is available in Spanish, English, French, Italian and Catalan.<\/p>\n<p>To find out more about this place, I suggest you visit <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/palace-of-catalan-music\/\">read the excellent article I wrote on the subject<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc128857479\"><\/a><strong>Operas in Barcelona: Teatre del Liceu<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>On April 4, 1847, the first play was performed at the <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/liceu-barcelona\/\">Teatre del Liceu<\/a>the most important and prestigious theater in the city of Barcelona. Since then, millions of people have passed through the Gran Teatre del Liceu, known simply as El Liceu, to enjoy some of the greatest plays and operas ever created, as well as for its impressive architecture.<\/p>\n<p>The original Liceu has <strong>a curious origin linked to the army<\/strong>. In 1837, the Sociedad Dram\u00e1tica de Aficionados, a liberal organization of armed citizens created by members of the National Militia, decided to build a music conservatory in Barcelona.<\/p>\n<p>The city's economy was booming, and soon this conservatory was transformed into HM Queen Isabella II's Liceo Filarm\u00f3nico Dram\u00e1tico Barcelon\u00e9s, with the mission of cultivating music and singing alongside theater. The Liceu soon became <strong>one of the main symbols of Catalan power, nobility and bourgeoisie.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Practical information about the Liceu<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>There are up to 15 different rates for each of the 8 theater zones. However, if you're a frequent theater-goer, you've got <strong>the possibility of purchasing subscriptions.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The consumption of food and drink is prohibited inside the theater. However, it is possible to eat before or after the play in the Liceu cafeteria.<\/p>\n<p>You can visit the Liceu without having to attend a show. On site, you'll find numerous jazz concerts, flamenco evenings and, of course, operas. The venue takes advantage of a special evening for lovers of works of this type. For this, I recommend <strong>on Thursday evenings.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A full program of operas by Mozart, Donizetti, Verdi and Tchaikovsky, among others. To make it easier for the audience to understand what's going on, we offer a short presentation of the piece before the show. So you'll also know what the opera you're about to hear is about.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Some information about Palau Dalmasses<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Open every day <strong>from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Prices depend mainly on the play you're going to see.
