From the 1880s to the 1930s, it was all about moving away from industrial buildings and experimenting with new materials and visual styles. The trend was to use <strong>glass, metal and tiles into works of art.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/gaudi-barcelona\/\">Gaud\u00ed<\/a> was an impressive architect who pushed the boundaries even further. It's easy to see why Gaud\u00ed's buildings stand out from all the other modernist works of the time.<\/p>\n<p>The architect was inspired by nature and religion. If there's one thing all Gaud\u00ed's architecture has in common, it's their connection to nature. He rarely used straight lines, which results in magnificent organic buildings. They are located along the <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/passeig-de-gracia\/\">Passeig de Gr\u00e0cia<\/a>. It's hard to miss as the building stands out a bit!<\/p>\n<p>The design alludes to the legend of St. George slaying a dragon to save the princess. <strong>The building is the dragon and the chimney is the sword<\/strong> that kills him. Unlike the <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/sagrada-familia-interior-tickets\/\">Sagrada Familia<\/a>The ticket price here is a little high. However, the interior is an impressive place to visit. To get a better idea of Casa Batllo, I recommend you read <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/casa-batllo-barcelona\/\">my article on the subject<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>The Gaud\u00ed House Museum<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>In one of the <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/parc-guell-barcelona\/\">parc G\u00fcell<\/a> is Gaud\u00ed's home. The park was originally conceived as a gated community, but was not successful enough to be completed. Only two houses were built; the model house in which Gaud\u00ed eventually moved, and <strong>another further up the hill.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Today, it's a museum that complements your visit to the park. It also features some of the furniture designed by the architect.<\/p>\n<p>While the building itself was not completely designed by Gaudi, the artist did make his own additions, <strong>like adding a window and mosaics to the fireplace.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc132547661\"><\/a><strong>Casas de Gaudi in Barcelona: Casa Mil\u00e0 (La Pedrera)<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Further along the Passeig de Gr\u00e0cia is the <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/casa-mila-barcelona-pedrera\/\">Casa Mila<\/a> by Gaud\u00ed, also known as the <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/la-pedrera-barcelona\/\">La Pedrera<\/a>. This is one of Gaud\u00ed's lesser-known buildings in Barcelona. However, it's a must-see on any visit.<\/p>\n<p>The exterior is magnificent. It's meant to resemble a mountain and the sea, representing the landscape surrounding Barcelona. You'll soon notice how much larger the building is than all the others. The house was inspired by nature, of course, but it was also <strong>by Arab architecture and art.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>So much care has gone into every detail of the many pieces. Each one looks like a small work of art. A visit to <strong>this place is a must<\/strong> if you want to discover Gaud\u00ed's works in Barcelona.<\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc132547663\"><\/a><strong>Casas de Gaudi in Barcelona: Maison Calvet<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Casa Calvet is another example of Gaud\u00ed's Barcelona architecture. You can appreciate the building's beautifully crafted facade. This house is just a few blocks from the Passeig de Graci\u00e0, so it's easy enough to make a quick detour to see this place.<\/p>\n<p>There's even a restaurant inside. Plenty to eat <strong>between two visits to Gaudi's works in Barcelona.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There are many other works by Gaudi in Barcelona.
