On one side <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/el-raval-barcelona\/\">El Raval<\/a>a neighborhood with a rich multicultural environment.<\/p>\n<p>You also have the <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/barcelonas-gothic-quarter\/\">Gothic district<\/a> with its distinctive architecture and <strong>its wonderful shopping streets.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Next is the La Ribera district, where you'll find <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/el-born\/\">El Born<\/a>the most popular and bohemian part of town.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, we have the<a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/barceloneta-neighborhood\/\"> Barceloneta<\/a>This is the seaside and maritime district of Ciutat Vella, where you'll find restaurants and luxury hotels. You'll find people surfing or <strong>stroll along the promenade.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc132814424\"><\/a><strong>El Raval: one of the city's newest districts<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Enter <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/las-ramblas-barcelona\/\">Las Ramblas<\/a> and Parallel Street is El Raval, Barcelona's former Chinatown, the typical port-city district, now completely renovated and betting, among other things, on the offer of cultural spaces.<\/p>\n<p>In this part of Ciutat Vella, you will find :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/la-boqueria\/\">la Boqueria<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Visit <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/liceu-barcelona\/\">Grand Th\u00e9\u00e2tre du Liceu<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Visit <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/macba\/\">Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art (MACBA)<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Visit <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/cccb-barcelona\/\">Barcelona Centre for Contemporary Culture<\/a> (CCCB), among other places of interest.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There are plenty of places to discover local art and culture. You can enter via the <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/place-catalunya-barcelona\/\">place de Catalunya<\/a> and follow one of Barcelona's most important shopping streets: Portal de l'\u00c0ngel. Here you'll find a wide range of clothing and shoe stores, as well as fashion and accessories stores and the El Corte Ingles head office, <strong>Spain's largest department store.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>A profusion of monuments in the Barri Gotic<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Barcelona Cathedral is also located in the Gothic Quarter, where you will also find :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Visit <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/barcelona-city-hall\/\">Barcelona City Hall<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Sainte-Anne church<\/li>\n<li>l'<a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/santa-maria-del-pi\/\">Iglesias del Pi (Church of the Pine)<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I suggest you take a stroll down Calle Bisbe (Bishop's street) or Calle Ferran, both of which open onto Pla\u00e7a Sant Jaume, and discover <strong>this fabulous old town district.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the Gothic Quarter, you'll also find Pla\u00e7a Reial, home to the Barcelona City History Museum (MUHBA), with a spectacular archaeological site in the basement.<\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc132814426\"><\/a><strong>La Ribera: the bohemian part of the old town<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>In La Ribera, you'll find a wide range of entertainment-oriented establishments such as restaurants and bars, from its bohemian atmosphere to the number and type of commercial establishments.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>A true cultural center in Barcelona <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Visit <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/picasso-museum-barcelona\/\">Picasso Museum<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/the-chocolate-museum-in-barcelona-a-gourmet-visit\/\">Chocolate Museum<\/a> are just a sample of the many museums you can visit. <strong>in this part of Ciutat Vella.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Depending on where you're coming from, you can take Princesa or Montcada streets to continue discovering this beautiful part of Barcelona.<\/p>\n<p>The rest of the district is also well worth a visit, where you'll find some of Barcelona's real heritage gems, such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/palace-of-catalan-music\/\">Palau de la M\u00fasica Catalana<\/a>designed by architect Llu\u00eds Domenech i Montaner.<\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc132814427\"><\/a><strong>La Barceloneta: the maritime district<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The fourth quarter of Ciutat Vella is known as the <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/barceloneta-neighborhood\/\">La Barceloneta<\/a>. It's a place full of <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/gourmet-tapas\/\">tapas<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/paella-barcelona\/\">paella<\/a> that delight locals and tourists alike.<\/p>\n<p>Although Barcelona's range of beaches has increased considerably since the urban redevelopment of the <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/j-o-de-barcelona\/\">1992 Olympic Games<\/a>Barceloneta beach remains one of the most visited in summer. As well as bathers, it's common to see surfers and street artists on the beach.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>A trip to Las Ramblas<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>One of the city's most famous streets. Barcelona's Las Ramblas links Pla\u00e7a de Catalunya to the Port Vell (old port), separating two of the four districts of Ciutat Vella. To the west lies the Raval, while to the east is the Gothic Quarter.<\/p>\n<p>In Las Ramblas, you can visit the Canaletes fountain and the Boqueria market, one of the most important in the world.<\/p>\n<p>At the southern end of this tourist street is the Port Vell, which you'll easily recognize when you arrive at the Belvedere de Colomb. From here, you can join the Rambla del Mar, which takes you to the <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/maremagnum\/\">Maremagnum<\/a> and the<a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/aquarium-barcelona\/\">Barcelona Aquarium.<\/a><\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc132814428\"><\/a><strong>How to get to Ciutat Vella<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Barcelona's old town is easy to get to. To take advantage of a central location and visit all the districts I've described above, I recommend you start at the Pla\u00e7a de Catalunya. It's a much-used meeting point for people in the city.<\/p>\n<p>The easiest way to get there is to exit at <strong>Catalunya metro station (lines L1 and L3)<\/strong>. It offers direct access to the square.<\/p>\n<p>Discovering Barcelona's Old Town is a unique experience that you're sure to enjoy. It's full of art, culture and history.
