It consists of a <strong>yacht harbor<\/strong> (known as <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/port-olimpic\/\">Port Olimpic<\/a>) and the Port Vell area (i.e. <strong><em>the Old Port<\/em><\/strong><em>)<\/em>which form the port's tourist areas, and an industrial zone to the south.<\/p>\n<p>Here it is!<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Introducing the Port of Barcelona<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>This port has always been one of the main access points to the Catalan capital, and remains so to this day. In fact, its <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/cruise-stopover-barcelona\/\">cruises<\/a> welcomes thousands of boats and pleasure craft every year!<\/p>\n<p>This is a renovated area <strong>in 1992<\/strong> for the <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/j-o-de-barcelona\/\">Summer Olympics<\/a>which saw the demise of the old dockside warehouses. They gave way to impressive buildings with innovative architecture for their time, and to <strong>landscaped promenades<\/strong> that delight tourists and locals alike.<\/p>\n<p>Its proximity to <strong>downtown Barcelona<\/strong> makes it an interesting stop-off point on your <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/visit-barcelona-in-3-days\/\">stay in the city<\/a>. It's a huge complex, with 35 pools, species from 4 corners of the world, a tunnel of <strong>80 meters long<\/strong> and an impressive aquarium <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/barcelona-sharks\/\">to sharks\u00a0<\/a>!<\/p>\n<p>If you're travelling <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/barcelona-with-children\/\">with children<\/a>it's a must!<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Shopping at Maremagnum<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Visit <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/maremagnum\/\">Maremagnum<\/a> is the shopping center of the Port of Barcelona, and should appeal to lovers of <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/shopping-barcelona\/\">shopping<\/a>. It's open every day of the week, and houses the boutiques of the most famous brands, as well as numerous caf\u00e9s and restaurants.<\/p>\n<p>Perfect for a waterside shopping or dining break.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>See the statue of Christopher Columbus<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Along the Port of Barcelona, you'll see a superb column topped by the statue of one of history's greatest navigators: <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/place-christophe-colomb-barcelona\/\">Christopher Columbus<\/a>. This <strong>commemorative monument<\/strong> is a tribute to this great man, and the summit can be reached by elevator (8 euros).<\/p>\n<p>to contemplate Barcelona, its port or <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/las-ramblas-barcelona\/\">the Ramblas<\/a> as the famous Genoese navigator does every day.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Join the Ramblas!<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>As mentioned above, <strong>Barcelona's famous Ramblas<\/strong> are just a stone's throw away. You can reach these famous avenues via a footbridge - La Rambla de Mar - which takes you directly to the monument to Christopher Columbus and the Catalan capital's busiest avenue.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Discover the Museum of the History of Catalonia<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>In the northern part of the old port, very close to the metro \/ bus station. <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/barceloneta-neighborhood\/\">Barcelonetta district<\/a>is a fascinating museum. It traces <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/museum-of-the-history-of-catalonia\/\">the history of Catalonia<\/a> and helps us better understand Barcelona's strong regionalism.<\/p>\n<p>It's fun, with <strong>a beautiful staging<\/strong> and fascinating information for everyone. At 6 euros a ticket, it's a visit not to be missed.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Take the cable car<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>If you want to admire the port from the heights of the city, go to the top of the <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/montjuic\/\">Montjuic hill<\/a> !<\/p>\n<p>To do this, I recommend borrowing <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjourbarcelone.fr\/en\/telephony-at-the-port-of-barcelona\/\">the Port of Barcelona cable car<\/a>for a breathtaking experience above the city.<br \/>\n<a name=\"3\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><strong>How do I get to the port in Barcelona?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>This port is located to the southwest of the city.
