Barcelona is a large city with over one and a half million inhabitants.
And in terms of tourism, the city welcomes almost ten million people every year!
A demographic boom. Hotels and hostels are often fully booked, and although there are plenty of private properties on offer, prices can be very high in summer.
But you can expect the prices of campsites around the capital to be quite high in high season.
There are two options for camping in Barcelona!
To really take advantage of the financial benefits, choose to move away from Barcelona, to the seaside resorts on the coast.
And do you an occasional trip to the big city!
Alternatively, you can choose a campsite very close to the big city, and you'll usually reach the city center in less than an hour.
Camping can be a great way to enjoy the city, but also nature! After all, the Catalan capital is quite spread out and in the middle of the mountains, The town is therefore close to nature and small, pleasant villages.
By the sea or in the mountainsThere's plenty to choose from!
Also, as the city is extremely popular in summer, this will allow you to make an evening break from the crowds.
When should you camp in Barcelona?
Preconceived ideas die hard, and the fact that it's always hot in Barcelona is one of them!
And yes, In winter, Barcelona enjoys a very pleasant climate, but at night it gets very cold!
Barcelona is close to the sea, and there's often a lot of wind on the coast.
To really enjoy a pleasant campsite, I recommend that you consider this option from late May, or even early June, until the very end of September.
Bear in mind that temperatures often rise in July and September. above 35 degrees.
If you're camping, make sure you can enjoy a cooler spot and, above all, shade!
Warning: camping in the wild is not an option!
Wild camping is absolutely forbidden: Spain strictly forbids it and you risk hefty fines because the threat of forest fires is very real.
And the police won't be lenient about it...

Tossa del Mar and Cadaqués come to mind as extremely pleasant little towns. They combine culture, fiesta and beaches...
All three towns are splendid and well worth a visit!
We're also thinking of towns close to the beach, such as Castelldefel, or further afield, towards Sant Pol de Mar.
