Description and history of Casa Batlló (interior, facade, roof)
Antoni GaudÃ's masterpieceCasa Batlló is a benchmark of Modernism.
Located on Passeig de Grà cia, this building stands out for its style and colors. Every passer-by interprets the curves and colors of the building in his own way. total contrast with the rest of the artery where it is located.
Architect Antonà Gaudà took advantage of the reconstruction of an 1875 building on Barcelona's Passeig de Grà cia to create one of his most audacious and exceptionally creative works.
Gaudà was assisted by the architects Josep Maria Jujol and Joan Rubio i Bellver.
GaudÃ's imagination was essential to the direction of the project, as was the decorative work of the craftsmen. The polychrome circles of glazed ceramic and the trencadis fragments of coloured glass, placed with precision, draw flowers and water lilies and play with the reflections of sunlight.
Sometimes the building is seen as the surface of an undulating sea in the middle of Passeig de Grà cia.
On the second floor, a large sandstone balcony reveals the noble floor, while other floors feature large, mask-like balconies.
On top is a ceramic scaled skin and a tower crowned with a four-pointed cross.
Inside Casa Batlló, you can see the wonderful ceramic-covered courtyard and the roof with its colorful chimneys.
