Hotel Indigo in Barcelona isn't exactly on tourists' radars when they're looking for a hotel in town.
Nevertheless, it's a charming place to enjoy the Catalan capital.
This article gives you my opinion of the establishment.
Hotel Indigo in Barcelona: article summary
Hotel Indigo: a prime location in Barcelona
Hotel Indigo Barcelona is just a few blocks from the Plaça Catalunya bus stop. A central point for getting anywhere in the city.
In fact, you're just a 5-minute walk from the Plaça Catalunya and Las RamblasThe hotel is therefore relatively easy to reach from the old town. You can head in the opposite direction and be in Gracia in 10 minutes. La Casa Milà and the Casa Batllóeminent structures designed by Antoni GaudÃAll are within easy walking distance. So you can enjoy some great sightseeing while staying just a stone's throw from your home.
A room for everyone
The hotel lobby is quite small. In fact, the whole property is small. With only 77 roomsThis is an establishment with character.
Check-in is usually straightforward, and the staff at reception will give you a warm welcome. You will then be given a brief introduction to the premises before collect your room keys.
Hotel Indigo in Barcelona: elegantly designed rooms
Rooms feature a king-size bed, especially if you opt for the "deluxe" room, which is slightly larger than the standard rooms offering a single double bed. Most rooms at Hotel Indigo in Barcelona offer these types of beds, and no room has a capacity for more than 3 people. If you have a large family, I'd advise you to look elsewhere.
Apart from its size, the room and its facilities are quite pleasant. In terms of decor, you'll find a palette of bright colors on the walls. In the area next to the bed is the desk, with space to make your own coffee. There's also a minibar in the room.
The hotel also provides bottled water, mints and a brochure full of information about the hotel. Water and juice in the minibar are free of charge.
A perfect view of the outside
During your stay, you may find yourself overlooking the alley or the inner courtyard. As with the Balmes hotel, there's also a small green area where you can relax. However, the hotel does not offer a swimming pool. The one in the courtyard belongs to the neighboring establishment, and you won't be able to swim in it.
Enjoy the restaurant and bar at Hotel Indigo in Barcelona
Hotel Indigo Barcelona offers the DOQ restaurant and bar if you wish to dine in. The place is generally quite quiet. Given the prices, the restaurant doesn't fill up. Indeed, you'll find much better and cheaper options in the surrounding area. However, if you're arriving late and don't want to go out of your way, it's a more than pleasant option.
However, if you want to enjoy more elaborate dishes, I recommend hopping on the metro to El Poble-Sec for pinxtos at La Tasqueta de Blai.
The DOQ restaurant is open from 8 a.m. to 1 a.m. Hotel Indigo Barcelona's continental buffet breakfast costs €15. You can also order an English breakfast for €9, or combine the two for €20. There are also à la carte options from around €4. Overall, prices are reasonable for a hotel.
If you'd like to spend a few days in Barcelona and enjoy a clean hotel at a low price, I recommend you check out Hotel Indigo Barcelona. This is the place to be perfect for putting down your luggage and spending a quiet night in the Catalan capital.
