Ibis Budget, Ibis and Ibis Styles hotels: what's the difference?
The very first Ibis hotel opened in Bordeaux, France, in 1974. Since then, thousands of other branches, all bearing the inimitable red logo, have sprung up around the world.
You know what to expect at an Ibis hoteleven in another country. The level of comfort will be the same, the rooms will be similar, the services will be the same, and some of the staff will speak English. By choosing to stay in an Ibis, you effectively eliminate the risk of unpleasant surprises!
All Ibis hotels are also renowned for their excellent buffet breakfasts, with delicious pastries and fresh seasonal produce.
Ibis Styles hotels
Ibis Styles hotels, those with the green logo, feature a unique and generally colorful design. Unlike standard Ibis and Ibis Budget hotels, the rooms in Styles hotels are decorated differently. Ibis Styles rates include breakfast.
Ibis Budget hotels
Ibis Budget, the "blue" version of the hotel, is the new name of Etap Hotels. Prices are lower than in Ibis and Ibis Styles establishmentsbut the level of design and comfort is also inferior.
How to choose an Ibis hotel in Barcelona
Location, in or around the city, is a key point to consider. The price of the room is also an important factor. prices can vary enormously depending on the season and type of hotel.
Ibis Budget rooms start up around 40 eurosPrices in a classic Ibis start at around 49 euros, and a night in an Ibis Styles will cost you at least 79 euros. These are only approximate indications, and may vary according to your travel dates, as hotels tend to be more expensive in summer.
Ibis hotel in central Barcelona
Not surprisingly, the Ibis Sagrada Familia is located just a stone's throw from the masterpiece by GaudÃ. However, none of the rooms offers a view of the basilica.
Visit Sagrada Familia is not the most central area of Barcelona. However, there are excellent transport links, with metro, bus and tourist bus stops close to the hotel.
The hotel's public areas are rather small compared with those of other Ibis hotels in Barcelona. Rooms are quiet and all identical. However, the rooms on the lower floors and those overlooking the inner courtyards are rather dark, a common problem in Barcelona.
The hotel has its own private parking lot. This makes the Ibis Sagrada Familia a particularly interesting option if you're coming by car.
This hotel is a good option if you're only in Barcelona for a short stay and the main purpose of your trip is to visit the Sagrada Familia. However, it's not the most charming of Barcelona's Ibis hotels, and as such.., it wouldn't be my first choice for a longer stay.
Ibis Styles in central Barcelona
Lovers of art nouveau will be particularly delighted by the location of this Ibis. Ideally located in l'EixampleIt's just a stone's throw from the Sagrada Familia and other Gaudà masterpieces, including the Casa Batlló and La Pedrera.
The hotel has excellent transport links: the Verdaguer and Diagonal metro stations are less than 5 minutes away, and there are numerous bus stops nearby. The Ibis Styles Center is also close to the charming bohemian district of Grà cia in Barcelona!
The design of the hotel, which opened in March 2016, is inspired by the streets of Barcelona. The theme centers on the city's iconic paving tiles, or panots in Catalan.
All the hotel's rooms are well-appointed, comfortable and equipped with air conditioning. And they're all the same price, from 89 euros, depending on the season.
Ibis Styles Bogatell hotel
This hotel is located in the Poblenouright next to Bogatell metro station.
The beautiful Bogatell beaches or Nova Icaia, near the Olympic port, are just a ten-minute walk away. You'll also find a host of bars and restaurants, where you can enjoy a meal or drink overlooking the sea.
The Ibis Styles Bogatell is a new construction, opened at the end of 2016. With 230 rooms spread over 7 floors, it is currently the largest Ibis hotel in Spain.
As with all Ibis Styles hotels, interior design is a key feature here.
The hotel's public areas are incredibly spacious.
There's a panoramic rooftop terrace with a bar and a small swimming pool, perfect for a swim. sunbathe or enjoy a cocktail overlooking the city.
All rooms are decorated in a Mediterranean theme and are light and bright. Some even have small private balconies. Bathroom design is inspired by GaudÃ's mosaics.
Although the hotel is not so close to the city center, it has the huge advantage of being close to Barcelona's best beaches. The pool, terraces and facilities make it ideal for families who want to enjoy the beach and explore the city at their own pace.
Hotel Ibis Glòries
Located in Barcelona's business district, a 10-minute walk from the Bogatell hotel and close to the Agbar TowerThis 2-star Ibis hotel is particularly quiet and not far from the beach. In fact, a 20-minute walk is all you need to reach the beach. take a dip in the sea!
The recently renovated first floor is spacious, colorful and welcoming. A bicycle rental service is available on site. All the hotel's 140 rooms are light, bright and quiet. There's also a gym and underground parking.
A spacious, welcoming and attractive hotel. The area is sure to be a success for architecture enthusiasts and photographers alikeThe new building is a combination of innovative new buildings and art nouveau treasures from the last century. The location, between the beach and Barcelona's business district, suitable for families and business travelers alike.
Ibis Meridiana Hotel
The Ibis Meridiana hotel is located on the avenue of the same name, on the outskirts of Barcelona. It's a good ten-minute walk from the nearest metro station, Fabra i Puig, between a Corte Inglés store and the Heron City shopping center.
The Ibis Meridiana has 140 rooms in a huge 14-storey building. The hotel is ideal for business travelers needing access to offices in this part of Barcelona.
However, I wouldn't recommend it for families or travelers who want to enjoy the hustle and bustle of central Barcelona. It's a bit far from the metro nearest, in an outlying district of the city. In my opinion, this is the least attractive of the Ibis hotels in Barcelona.
The Ibis Castelldefels is about 20 km from Barcelona and 10 km from Barcelona El Prat airport. It's also close to the Ànec Blau shopping center.
It's also close to Castelldefels beach and the long seafront promenade. The Mediterranean is just a 30-minute walk away, so don't forget your swimsuit!
Choosing a hotel for your trip is an important step. With my advice, I'm sure that you'll find the Ibis hotel you need in Barcelona!
