This port has always been one of the main access points to the Catalan capital, and remains so to this day. In fact, its cruises welcomes thousands of boats and pleasure craft every year!
This is a renovated area in 1992 for the Summer Olympicswhich saw the demise of the old dockside warehouses. They gave way to impressive buildings with innovative architecture for their time, and to landscaped promenades that delight tourists and locals alike.
Its proximity to downtown Barcelona makes it an interesting stop-off point on your stay in the city. And as I'll detail below, it's not short of attractions!

Visit Europe's largest aquarium
Barcelona Aquarium is located in Port Vell and is a family favorite. It's a huge complex, with 35 pools, species from 4 corners of the world, a tunnel of 80 meters long and an impressive aquarium to sharks !

Shopping at Maremagnum
Visit Maremagnum is the shopping center of the Port of Barcelona, and should appeal to lovers of shopping. It's open every day of the week, and houses the boutiques of the most famous brands, as well as numerous cafés and restaurants.
Perfect for a waterside shopping or dining break.
See the statue of Christopher Columbus
Along the Port of Barcelona, you'll see a superb column topped by the statue of one of history's greatest navigators: Christopher Columbus. This commemorative monument is a tribute to this great man, and the summit can be reached by elevator (8 euros).

As mentioned above, Barcelona's famous Ramblas are just a stone's throw away. You can reach these famous avenues via a footbridge - La Rambla de Mar - which takes you directly to the monument to Christopher Columbus and the Catalan capital's busiest avenue.

How do I get to the port in Barcelona?
This port is located to the southwest of the city. It's easy to get to, via :
- A 30-minute walk from the Plaça de Catalunya
- Visit metroline 3, Drassanes stop
- Visit busvia lines 88, 88B, 21, N0, N6 and 59
- By stopping at the station Estació de França train station, then a twenty-minute walk
