Barcelona shuttle: article summary
Barcelona shuttle: AeroBus from Barcelona airport
The Aerobus is the fastest shuttle to downtown. With departures every 5 minutes at peak times, it's also the most convenient option. There are two lines, A1 and A2, which operate from Terminals 1 and 2 respectively.
L'Aérobus takes you to Plaça Catalunya in the city center, which is an ideal place to sightsee, eat and visit your first sights. The bus also stops at Place Espanya, Gran Via-Urgell and Place Universitate.
As far as costs are concerned, you should allow for :
- 5.90 per person
The Aérobus is available from 5 am to 1 am.
Take bus 46
The public bus from the airport to Plaça Catalunya links Terminals 1 and 2 before stopping at various points along the way into the city. The bus only runs during daylight hours. However, night buses have the same arrival point and are available outside public bus operating hours. It's always best to leave more time for your journey, because traffic can affect journey times.
More economical, you can count on :
- 2.15 per person to get to downtown Barcelona
The journey takes a little longer. It takes 60 minutes to take you to the city's historic center.
Bus 46 is available every day 5.30 a.m. to 11.50 p.m..
Night buses N16 and N17
The night bus system or "Nitbus" to Plaça Catalunya is ideal for those who travel very early or late, as the cost is low and the journey tolerable, if not a little long. Visit bus stop regularly along the route if you need to get off en route. The disadvantage of public buses is that they don't always have suitable luggage space, as they are not designated as airport shuttles.
For your trip, you will need :
- 2.15 per person
The N16 is on the move from 11:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. The night bus is only available from Terminal 1.
Convenience and availability
Although there are several transport options to get you to the airport, local buses can be long and inconvenient if traffic is involved. On top of that, they have several stops. The best option is the Aerobus shuttleAlthough it's a little more expensive, travel time is almost halved by this method.
You'll need to be aware that you'll have to take a night bus after daylight hours, which can also mean long waiting times.
Barcelona airport shuttle ticket information
Tickets are available in advance online for the Aerobus, but can also be purchased on the bus. Tickets (except in the case of multiple trips) are available for other buses on the bus and are payable in cash.
You can buy a "T10" ticket which covers both public buses and trains.subways for maximum 10 trips from airport ticket offices.
Where to pick up your shuttle from Barcelona airport
The Aerobus departs from terminals 1 and 2, while the night bus and bus line 46 depart from terminal 1 only. All bus stops are located outside the arrivals hall. If you follow the "bus and cab" signs out of the airport, you'll be taken under the terminal to the Aerobus stop and other bus routes.
There will always be a shuttle available to pick up at the airport, day and night.
Shuttle bus from Barcelona airport to hotel
Although there are multiple transportation options to downtown, they are not extremely varied and do not offer door-to-door service such as a cab or a private trip. This can be a problem for those with a lot of luggage, because this may mean a change of transport.
If you want to get from the airport to Barcelona city center, these 3 shuttles are a good way to get home! However, if you're travelling with the family, I advise you to book private transport.
