Start your walking tour at the Plaça de Catalunya

Our walking tour begins on the Place de CatalunyaBarcelona's most central square. Easily accessible by public transport, it's your starting point right in the center of Barcelona.

Plaça de Catalunya is the heart of Barcelona, and as you'll see, it can get very busy. It's a popular meeting place for locals and tourists alike. In the square, you'll find famous chains and fast-food restaurants.

Barcelona walking tour: walk down the Las Ramblas promenade

Las Ramblas is a tree-lined pedestrian street in the center of Barcelona that links the Plaça de Catalunya to the Christopher Columbus monument in Port Vell.

Las Ramblas is famous for being quite busy during the day until late at night. Along the promenade, you'll find various kiosks selling newspapers, souvenirs and flowers.

If you fancy a hot drink, you can grab a coffee in one of the many bars you'll come across on your walk.

Try tapas at La Boquería

La Boquería is Barcelona's most famous market. It was built in the 19ᵉ century and has numerous food stalls offering a wide range of dishes. You can find seafood, cheese and wine.

Here, you stroll through the market to take a look at the variety of dishes they offer. You don't need to buy anything here. Indeed, prices are often quite high. What's more, the prices are often quite high, you've still got a long way to go!

Barcelona walking tour: discover Gaudí's architecture

Plaça Reial is known as one of Barcelona's most beautiful squares. It's a square full of palm trees, restaurants and some of Barcelona's most famous nightclubs. The iconic Pipa Club is also located here.

Be sure to check out the lampposts on Plaça Reial. They have been designed by the one and only Antoni Gaudí.

Discover the medieval quarter of El Born

El Born is one of my favorite neighborhoods in Barcelona, so I made sure to include it in your walking tour. El Born is known for with its medieval architecture, narrow streets and countless cafés, bars and restaurants.

On site, you'll discover the Santa María del Mar cathedral and admire its Gothic architecture. What's more, you're just a stone's throw from the Picasso Museum. If you're interested in Pablo Picasso or modern art in general, this is a place not to be missed.

Admire the waterfall in Parc de la Ciutadella

Visit Parc de la Ciutadella is just a few steps away if you're already in El Born. It's the largest park in downtown Barcelona and a popular meeting place for locals. Take the time to relax for a while and enjoy Barcelona's fine weather.

The most emblematic place of this park is the "Cascada del parc de la Ciutadella", a beautiful XIXᵉ century monument with gilded decorations and a waterfall.

Visit Barcelona's Arc de Triomphe

This majestic monument was built as the main gateway to the Barcelona World Fair in 1888. It links the promenade from Passeig de Lluís Companys to Parc de la Ciutadella.

Discover the Sagrada Familia

Of course, you can't leave Barcelona without seeing the Sagrada Familia. I'd recommend visiting in the morning, when it's less crowded and the area is generally less busy. If you want to enter the Sagrada Familia, I advise you to book your tickets online.

This way, you can avoid the queue and not have to wait as long. It's a must-see in Barcelona. In fact, you can don't leave the city without seeing the Sagrada Familia inside and out.

End your stroll at Gaudi's masterpieces: Casa Milá and Casa Battló

The two buildings, Casa Milá and Casa Batllówere designed at the beginning of the XXᵉ century by Antoní Gaudí. Both are located on the chic shopping street. Passeig de Grácia and will immediately attract your attention once you see them.

The architecture of these two buildings is very typical of Gaudí. This particular aspect is also reflected inside the buildings. If you'd like to visit, I'd also recommend booking your tickets online. You'll save time and everyone inside the buildings.
