Did you know that you can also visit Barcelona by night?
Barcelona is a city that hardly ever sleeps.
A wide range of activities are available.
Today, I'm taking you on a tour of the city by night.
Visiting Barcelona by night: article summary
Barcelona by night: enjoy a flamenco show
Flamenco is performed by men and women dressed in traditional flamenco garb and accompanied by a Spanish guitar. Take time to look at the beautiful clothes worn by the performers. The dresses are absolutely magnificent. After your first flamenco concert, you'll never forget the experience.
In Barcelona, you can attend a flamenco show exceptional at the théâtre de l'hôtel de ville. It's a magnificent 19thᵉ century theater. A ticket for a one-hour performance costs just €18, which is very affordable.
Another beautiful place is Tablao Flamenco Cordobes. It's an authentic Flamenco venue in Las Ramblas. It was founded in 1970 and belongs to a family of artists.
See Gaudí's masterpiece Casa Milá by night
Barcelona is full of beautiful buildings, and there's one man we have to thank for that: Antoni Gaudí. He has designed several buildings in Barcelona. Two of his works can be found on the Passeig de Gràcia.
Gaudí was famous for drawing his inspiration from nature and the environment. Casa Milá has a rather unconventional appearance, resembling a stone quarry. Some citizens disapproved of its appearance and gave it this name.
Visiting "La Pedrera" during the day is already very impressive. But you can make a special visit to see it at night, which I highly recommend.
The night tour of La Pedrera includes an incredible sound and light show on the roof. Afterwards, you can see the magnificent illuminated inner patio. Finally, you'll enjoy a glass of champagne at the top of the building.
The tour lasts a total of two hours and is available in Spanish, English and Chinese.
Barcelona by night: the Montjuïc Magic Fountain
Go to Montjuïc is one of the highlights of your stay in Barcelona. Montjuïc means "Jewish Mountain" in Catalan. The place is so named because it is the district of Barcelona where the Jewish community lived.
Visit Montjuïc fountain was built for the Barcelona International Exhibition in 1929. On the evenings of Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, the fountain offers visitors a fantastic sound and light show. It's an incredible water show. Over 2,600 liters of water flow through the fountain and its basins. I can assure you that you won't forget the Montjuïc Magic Fountain show in a hurry.
See the Sagrada Familia in the evening
Of course, you can't leave Barcelona without visiting the Sagrada Familia. Probably the most emblematic monument in Spain. This Gaudí creation should be at the top of your Barcelona bucket list when you visit the city.
If you have the time, I recommend you see it from the inside. To do so, I advise you to buy your tickets in advance. There are so many people queuing up to see this work of art from the inside. If you buy your ticket online, you avoid the queue.
You can visit the Sagrada Familia until 6 p.m. in winter and 8 p.m. in summer. But even looking at it from the outside during the evening is simply magical.
Barcelona by night: the El Carmel Bunkers
Visit Bunkers El Carmel is the perfect place to enjoy the sunset in Barcelona, and I recommend you go there. Although it may seem a little difficult to get there, let me tell you that it's well worth the effort.
The El Carmel Bunkers are one of Barcelona's best vantage points. Over the years, it has become a very popular spot for young people. Numerous groups of people gather here in the evenings to watch the sunset, have a picnic or a few drinks.
One of the best things about the place is that you get a 360-degree view of the whole of Barcelona. Despite its name "Bunkers El Carmel", there were never any bunkers here. Instead, there was an anti-aircraft station during the Spanish Civil War. Finally, this is a very windy place, and it often gets cold after sunset. Make sure bring a jacket!
Visiting Barcelona at night gives you a different perspective on the city. In fact, you can rediscover the city's monuments and spend an exceptional evening with friends or family.
